Introduction

Working in social integration and equality means working with people, identities and life situations that are often complex and diverse. Communication plays a key role in this work, and being able to use English confidently, respectfully and professionally is essential in multicultural and international contexts. These materials have been designed to support students in developing the linguistic and professional skills needed in the fields of Social Integration and Gender Equality.

The materials offer a comprehensive approach to learning English, combining grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing tasks, using realistic professional scenarios. Language is always presented in context through dialogues and texts inspired by real social situations. The aim is not only to learn English as a language, but to learn how to use it effectively and ethically in social and community-based environments.

The materials are organized into three units, each divided into three lessons, and each one focuses on specific learning objectives that integrate language development with professional competences.

Unit 1, “Working in Social Integration”, introduces students to professional profiles, workplaces and daily routines in the social sector. Students learn how to present themselves, describe their role, communicate in basic professional situations and write simple emails.

Unit 2, “People We Help”, focuses on the users of social services and their needs. Students practise describing people and situations respectfully, offering help, giving advice and writing basic reports, while working with key grammar structures used in professional contexts.

Unit 3, “Identity, Equality and Life Opportunities”, explores issues related to identity, inclusion and equal opportunities. Students work on inclusive language, cultural and gender diversity, living abroad and job hunting, including preparing a CV and a cover letter in English.

All units include dialogues, listening activities and tasks based on realistic professional situations. These materials are complemented by online exercises, which allow students to practise and reinforce the contents at their own pace.

Overall, these materials aim to help students develop confidence in using English as a professional tool, while promoting inclusive values, critical thinking and respect for diversity in social and international contexts.
